Premier League: Liverpool FC uses Facebook Live to raise money for the club's foundation

Liverpool FC (Premier League) legends and FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) legends took part in a charity match and fundraiser in aid of the LFC Foundation that was broadcast on Facebook live, on Saturday 24/03/2018.

Fans were encouraged to donate via the English club's Facebook page by clicking the "Donate" button which allowed fans to make donations while simultaneously watching the live match. During the game, the club provided fans with an insight into the LFC Foundation, explained how the donations would help and thanked fans for their support.

The match which ended in a draw (5-5) involved Liverpool legends such as, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Dirk Kuyt, Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso (who played for both sides) and FC Bayern Munich legends including, Hans-Jörg Butt, Lothar Matthäus, Bixente Lizarazu, Sammy Kuffour and Zé Roberto.

So far the club has raised £4,224 (€4,819 on 27/03/2018) of the £7,500 (or €8,555, total estimated due to varying exchange rates or pending refunds) by 266 people in 5 days, as of 27/03/2018.
