Manchester United: submits an application to the FA for a women's team that would play in the WSL 2

"Manchester United FC (Premier League) has submitted an application to the Football Association (FA) to establish a professional women’s team in the second tier of the Women’s Super League," announced the club on 21/03/2018.

If agreed by the FA, Manchester United FC will become the eighth 2017-18 Premier League club to have a professional women's team after Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal (WSL 1), Tottenham, and Brighton (WSL 2).

"The FA has provided excellent support through the process and we believe that launching a team in WSL2 would give many more of our graduates from the Regional Talent Club the chance to establish themselves as first-team players," said Ed Woodward, executive vice-chairman of the club.
