ECA: five new members of the Executive Board, including four observers (GA on 27/03/2018)

Niclas Carlnén (Malmö FF, SWE), Sergey Fursenko (Zenit St Petersburg, RUS), Raphael Landthaler (SK Rapid Vienna, AUT), Stefan Pantović (Red Star Belgrade, SER) and Vidar Halldorsson (FH Hafnarfjördur, ISL) have been elected to the ECA Executive Board at the 20^th General Assembly, attended by representatives of 163 European clubs in Rome (ITA) on 27/03/2018.

Sweden's Niclas Carlnén will replace Denmark's Anders Horsholt for the remainder of the 2017-2019 term, who resigned after leaving office at FC Copenhagen on 16/01/2018. The four others have also been elected until 2019, but as observers, each representing a sub-division of the ECA according to the UEFA national federations' ranking (see diagram below).

In addition, following a request from the ECA and after extensive discussions within the UEFA Club Competitions Committee, the ECA and UEFA are to abolish the eligibility rule in club competitions: "as of the upcoming 2018/19 season, clubs will have full flexibility in fielding players who are being transferred during the winter break and have previously played Champions League…
