Sweden: SVT and TV4 groups acquire rights to broadcast Euro 2016

The Swedish public broadcaster SVT and private free-TV company TV4 have acquired the broadcasting rights in Sweden for Euro 2016, the two companies said, on the 13/11/2013.

The distribution of the tournament's 51 matches, to be held in France from the 10/06 to 10/07/2016, is not yet known.

"The major football competitions are part of the biggest and most popular sporting events, so we are delighted to offer the Swedish public this beautiful festival of football," said Per Yng, sports director of SVT, on the 13/11/2013.

"The acquisition of the rights for Euro 2016 is an important addition to our premium sports coverage," said Hans Pekkari, his counterpart at TV4.

SVT and TV4 jointly hold the Swedish rights to broadcast the 2014 (Brazil), 2018 (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar) World Cups.
