Serie A: IMG applies for role of media consultant and offers €3 billion for TV rights from 2015-2018

The marketing and media rights agency, IMG Media, have applied for the role of media consultant from 2015, of the LNPA (Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A), the national professional league that runs Serie A. They have also offered €3 billion for the TV rights of the Italian first division, the Cup and the Italian Super Cup for the period 2015-2018, according to the Italian press, on the 13/11/2013.

The proposal comes just days before the meeting of the LNPA, scheduled for the 18/11/2013. They are due to make a ruling on the proposal by the Infront Italy agency (presented on the 07/10/2013) for Serie A TV rights after 2015. Infront, who are the current media advisers to the league, have proposed €5.5 billion over six years for the league's TV rights, from 2015 to 2021, and the extension of its advisory role.

In a letter to the league, Loris Francini, vice president of IMG Media, offered a guaranteed income from TV rights of nearly €3 billion over three years: €986 million in 2015-16, €993 million in 2016-17, and €1 billion in 2017-18. Beyond the guaranteed minimum, IMG would…
