Netherlands: Amsterdam ArenA to be officially renamed the "Johan Cruyff ArenA" from 2018-19

The Amsterdam ArenA (53,502 capacity), home to AFC Ajax (Eredivisie), will be officially renamed the "Johan Cruyff ArenA" (Johan Cruijff ArenA in Dutch) from the beginning of the 2018-19 season, said the Amsterdam club (NED) on 05/04/2018. Johan Cruyff, former player and coach of the club (see below) born on 25/04/1947, died in Barcelona (ESP) on 24/03/2016.

The new stadium logo will be presented "around 25/04/2018, the day that would have been the 71^st birthday of the greatest Ajacied (Ajax player) of all time," added the club.

"Johan Cruyff is the greatest footballer in the history of Ajax. He has helped Ajax become a big name both nationally and internationally. Wonderful to have the stadium named after him," said Edwin van der Sar, marketing director of AFC Ajax.
