2018 World Cup: Facebook and Twitter communities of the 32 participating nations (April 2018)

The 30 teams participating in the 2018 World Cup who have an official Facebook page accumulated 66.7 million Likes on the social network, on 01/04/2018. This figure represented an average of 2.2 million Likes for each of the 30 national teams (Saudi Arabia and Iran do not have an official Facebook page).

Between them, the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (11.9 million Likes) and Mexico (11.2 million) concentrated more than a third of the Likes of qualified teams for the final phase of the World Cup, on 01/04/2018. England are third in this ranking, with 6.93 million Likes. At the other end of the scale, Iceland had 101,893 Likes (for a population of 334,000), the World Cup hosts Russia had 79,971 Likes and Senegal 16,297 Likes at the end of March.

On the the social network Twitter, 30 participating teams have a certified account (Sweden and Tunisia do not have one) and had a total of 35.7 million followers on 01/04/2018. This represents an average of 1.19 million followers for each of the 30 national teams.
