Spain: the election for president of the federation postponed from Monday 09/04 to Thursday 17/05

The management committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) gathered at the Las Rozas City of Football (Madrid, ESP), in the presence of two FIFA observers, haven taken the decision to postpone the date of the General Assembly for the election of president of the Federation until Thursday 17/05/2018, announced the RFEF, on 09/04/2018.

The appeal was formulated on 23/03/2018 by Luis Rubiales, former president of the Association of Spanish Footballers (Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles, AFE) from 2010 to 2017 and candidate for the presidency of the Federation. On 04/04/2018, the Tribunal Administrativo del Deporte (TAD, Administrative Tribunal of Sport) demanded the postponement of the election scheduled for Monday 09/04/2018, as the date coincided with a LaLiga Santander match (Villarreal CF - Athletic Club Bilbao, 1-3, Matchday 31), which would have prevented players from participating in the vote.
