Allianz Arena: FC Bayern Munich present plans for the renovation of the stadium in summer 2018

FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) have presented plans for the renovation of the Allianz Arena (75,000 capacity) on 29/03/2018. The German club's executives have appointed the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron to design the project.

The aim of the renovation, planned for summer 2018, is to highlight the club's visual identity within the stadium. Until the summer of 2017, the Allianz Arena hosted matches of both FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich, who play in the German fourth division (Regional League Bavaria) during 2017-18 season. TSV Munich 1860 have since moved to the Städtisches Stadion an der Grünwalder Straße (12,500 capacity).

The Allianz Arena now belongs "exclusively" to FC Bayern Munich, according to the club. The new design of the stadium seats will feature the Bayern Logo at one end of the stadium, with the team's motto "Mia san mia" ("We are who we are" in Bavarian) at the opposite end as well as the clubs' name displayed across all three levels of the stands.
