LFP: total negative balance of €101m for the 2016-17 season, of which €93m for Ligue 1 Conforama

The DNCG's financial report of the French LFP, due to be published on 13/04/2018, will show that the 2016-17 cumulative net profit of the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 has a negative balance of €101m, according to the French daily sports newspaper L'Équipe on 12/04/2018.

Ligue 1 Conforama made a loss of €93m, and Domino's Ligue 2 posted a deficit of €8m, while during the 2015-16 season, the cumulative net profit (+€3m) was positive for the first time in 8 years (+€27m in 2007-08).

On the other hand, the LFP posted a turnover (excluding transfers) that was up sharply (+10.3%) to €1.86bn in 2016-17 (versus €1.69bn in 2015-16), thanks to TV rights in particular, according to L'Équipe: Canal+ and beIN Sports, the two broadcasters of the Ligue 1 Conforama, pay a combined €748.5m per year until 2020, compared with €625m annually between 2012 and 2016.

The presentation of the 2016-17 report is the first since the arrival of Jean-Marc Mickeler, who succeeded Henry Tcheng as president of the DNCG (French sports control authority) and was elected for a four-year term on 29/09/2017.
