The Olympic Museum in Lausanne (Switzerland) will reopen its doors on the 21/12/2013, after 23 months of expansion and renovation work, carried out by the architects Brauen & Wälchli. The new exhibition space covers over 3000 square metres and three floors.

The permanent exhibition covers the Olympic world (with touch screens and videos), the Olympic Games (180° panoramic film), and the Olympic spirit (virtual meetings with champions). There will be a temporary exhibition entitled "The Russian avant-garde and sport" which will be presented at the Olympic Museum from the 24/01 to 11/05/2014, on the occasion of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi (Russia), held from the 07 to 23/02/2014.

In 2004, the Olympic Museum hosted the "100 Years of Planet Football" exhibition, to celebrate the centenary of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association). Included in the various themes were Olympic football tournaments and the history of women's football.
