Inter: new president Erick Thohir meets mayor of Milan to discuss stadium project

Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, who was named the new president of Inter Milan (Serie A) on the 15/11/2013, met with the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, on the 16/11/2013, to discuss in particular the construction of a new stadium on the outskirts of the city (36 hectares would be available in the town of Rho, north-west of Milan).

"It was a more than pleasant meeting, I'd say friendly, in which we exchanged our views on sport in Milan, amongst other things, as well as on the future and the city's development," said Giuliano Pisapia. "This was the first step in a dialogue which will continue soon, what I can say is that we've started down the same path which will see us work together for the good of Milan and for those who have chosen our city as the location for a significant investment," added the mayor of Milan.

The club want to build a new stadium similar to that of the Juventus Stadium in Turin (41,000 seats), which opened in 2011. Inter would then leave the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (80,000 seats), which belongs to the city of Milan, and which they currently share with AC…
