"Four clubs (Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco, Olympique Lyonnais, and Olympique de Marseille) account for 58% of the cumulative turnover of Ligue 1 clubs, and have seen their revenues continue to rise in the 2016-17 season," states Jean-Marc Mickeler, president of the DNCG (French professional football control authority), in the opening the 2016-17 Financial Report of French professional football, presented on 13/04/2018.

"The revenue (excluding transfer activities) of Paris Saint-Germain (€503.03m) are more than the combined revenue of 13 Ligue 1 clubs. The investment capacity of the major clubs has also risen sharply in recent years, allowing them to progressively compete with the major European clubs," Jean-Marc Mickeler.

The report includes the financial information of all 40 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs in 2016-17.
