Twitch, a video game streaming platform, has acquired the broadcast rights to the NBA 2K League 2018, an eSports competition created by the NBA and Take-Two Interactive Software (publisher of the NBA 2K video game series), on 18/04/2018.

The NBA 2K League, which begins on 01/05/2018, is the first eSports league created by one of the four major North American sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA).

Twitch will broadcast all 199 games (regular season and play-offs) live, and will also offer replays.

  • 17 of the 30 NBA franchises will participate in this first edition of the NBA 2K League. Each of them has drafted six eSports players.
  • Teams play five-on-five games where each player controls one character.
  • Each player has, at a minimum, an annual contract of $32,000 (€25,830) plus bonuses, housing, a health insurance contract and a retirement savings plan.
