The 20 Premier League clubs accumulated a record pre-tax profit of nearly £500m (€570m on 30/06/2017) in 2016-17, according to a study by the Sports Business Group of the British branch of the audit and consultancy firm Deloitte on 20/04/2018.

In 2015-16, the Premier League clubs recorded a pre-tax loss of £110m (€132m on 30/06/2016), after two seasons in which they made a profit: £190m (€237.5m on 30/06/2014) in 2013-14, and £120m (€169m on 30/06/2015) in 2014-15.

Premier League clubs accumulated a record revenue amount of £4.5bn (€5.12bn) in 2016-17, up 25% from 2015-16 (£3.6bn/€4.35bn). This sharp increase can be explained in part by the new 2016-2019 Premier League audiovisual rights cycle.
