Bundesliga: Fernando Carro (ESP) appointed CEO of Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga)

"The Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH shareholders committee has appointed Fernando Carro (53 years old, ESP) as the new CEO with effect from 15/05/2018," announced Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga) on 20/04/2018.

"The Spaniard takes over as successor to Michael Schade (65 years old) as the head of the management board on 01/07/2018. Schade, as planned, will step down having reached retirement age and, at the same time, become a member of the shareholders committee at Bayer 04," added the German club.

"Fernando Carro has demonstrated outstanding leadership and management skills in a number of important positions in Germany and abroad," said Werner Wenning, chairman of the club's supervisory committee, about the ex-chairman of the board of Arvato (specialised in customer marketing) and member of the board of the German media group Bertelsmann SE (owner of Arvato) since 2015.
