"UEFA's solidarity payments system needs to be revised, because today it benefits the biggest clubs in the domestic leagues and therefore contributes to the competitive imbalance of national competitions. The system does not benefit those who need it most," said Lars-Christer Olsson, president of European Leagues, to News Tank Football after the first "Club Advisory Platform" organised by the European Association of Professional Leagues, in Amsterdam (NED) on 23/04/2018.

The theme of this day of talks with clubs was the competitive balance of domestic and European competitions. In addition to Lars-Christer Olsson, Jacco Swart, CEO of the Eredivisie; Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga; and Claudius Schäfer, CEO of the SFL, were also present. European Leagues notably presented the clubs with the reform of the format and distribution criteria of the Champions League and the Europa League for the 2018-2021 cycle, as well as a projection of the impact of these changes on the economic and sporting balance of the various European leagues.
