FIFA: Real Madrid will be compensated for Khedira injury while with German team

FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) will compensate Real Madrid (La Liga, ESP), after the Real and German international player Sami Khedira ruptured a knee ligament during the friendly between Italy and Germany (1-1) on the 15/11/2013 in Milan.

The midfielder is expected to be sidelined for at least six months. Real Madrid will thus benefit from the "club protection programme", adopted by the FIFA Congress in Budapest (Hungary) on the 25/05/2012. This programme provides clubs with compensation when an "A" player is injured on international duty during the international calendar, between the 01/09/2012 and the 31/12/2014.

Clubs can be compensated when "representative team football players participating for their association suffer a TTD (temporary total disablement), which lasts for more than 28 consecutive days, as a result of bodily injuries caused by an accident," stated the FIFA document.
