Falcao becomes ambassador for United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

The Colombia and AS Monaco (Ligue 1) striker Radamel Falcao has been appointed an ambassador of the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) by Yury Fedotov, executive director of the Office, on the 20/11/2013.

Falcao will be involved in the field of drug prevention, support UNODC projects, and will witness the challenges and achievements in the fight against drugs and crime. "I am proud to be a UNODC Goodwill Ambassador. My goal is to help the youth of this world show drugs a red card," said the Colombian international, on the 20/11/2013.

"Football is the most popular sport in the world, with billions of fans around the globe. As UNODC Goodwill Ambassador, you can help us reach the young and marginalized," said Yury Fedotov, speaking directly to Falcao on the 20/11/2013.

The UNODC have been fighting against crime, drugs and international terrorism since 1997. The organisation works directly with governments, international organisations, other United Nations bodies and civil society, to develop and implement programmes to meet the needs of countries and regions.
