Twitter: 71.1 million followers in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (May 2018)

The 20 clubs involved in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative total of 71.1 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data recorded by News Tank Football on 01/05/2018. This result makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular European Top 5 league on Twitter, with an average of 3.5 million followers per club, behind the Premier League (3.7 million).

Real Madrid CF, the most followed LaLiga Santander club, is the first European club to exceed 30 million followers (30.4 million) on its main account, which it reached during April with 1.7% additional followers (+497,652). During April, FC Barcelona, the second most popular Spanish club on Twitter, reached the 29 million followers mark (29.06 million).
