A vanishing spray, which allows referees to draw a white line on the ground to mark the location of the wall during a free kick, is to be used at the FIFA Club World Cup, held from the 11/12 to 21/12/2013 in Morocco, said FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), on the 20/11/2013.

The innovation was already used during the U-20 World Cup in Turkey (21/06 - 07/13/2013) and the U-17 World Cup (17/10 - 11/08/2013) in the UAE. Made by the Argentine company Fair Play 9.15 Limit, the product disappears after a minute and does not damage the ground.

"The spray has a clear preventive effect: The distance was always respected, so no yellow card for not respecting the distance had to be given throughout the two tournaments played so far. After the Club World Cup in Morocco further evaluations will be made. We will review the results and discuss if the spray will be used also in future FIFA competitions," said former Swiss referee Massimo Busacca, FIFA head of refereeing.
