€390 million kit supplier market dominated by Nike and Adidas in the five major leagues

The shirt market for the five major European leagues (Barclays Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga BBVA, and Ligue 1) is worth €390 million to the 98 first division clubs (20 in England, Italy, Spain and France, 18 in Germany).

The German brand Adidas (23% of clubs) and American company Nike (21% of clubs) dominate a market which includes 24 brands in total in 2013-14. Behind Adidas and Nike, Macron (8%), Puma (8%), and Kappa (7%), all appear to be strong players in the market, with a presence in several leagues.

The average club contract is highest in the Premier League at €7.3 million, against €4.2 million for La Liga, €3.4 million for the Serie A, €3.2 million for the Bundesliga, and €1.7 million for Ligue 1. The average per club in the European Top 5 is €3.96 million.
