Financial fair play: UEFA to reinforce rules regarding the control of clubs from 2018-19

A reinforcement of financial fair play rules applicable from the 2018-19 season should be endorsed by the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Kiev (UKR), on 24/05/2018, according to the French sports daily L'Équipe on 11/05/2018.

The changes introduced in the 2018 edition of the "UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations" concern, for example, the immediate guarantees required when a club's transfer balance reaches a deficit of €100m (see below). These developments must first be validated by the professional football strategy commission, a body that brings together UEFA, European Leagues, the clubs (ECA), and the players (FIFPro Europe), convening in Lyon (FRA) ahead of the final of the 2017-18 Europa League (Olympique de Marseille - Atlético de Madrid), on 16/05/2018.
