2018 World Cup: Sport1 (GER) acquires the digital broadcast rights for highlights of the 64 matches

The privately-owned free and pay TV group Sport1 has acquired the digital broadcast rights for highlights of the 64 matches of the 2018 World Cup, for Germany, via a sub-license from the public audiovisual groups ARD and ZDF, on 09/05/2018.

Sport1 will broadcast match highlights 45 minutes after the final whistle on Sport1.de and its applications free of charge.

The public broadcasting groups ARD and ZDF acquired the broadcasting rights of the 2018 World Cup for Germany in April 2012 for an estimated €200m.
