Ligue 1 Conforama TV rights: "Canal+ will be very attentive to invest proportionately" (M. Saada)

"I will be very careful to invest proportionally, because we consider the rights exclusively according to the value they have for us. Losing these rights for three (or four) years is surmountable, endangering the company by overpaying for them, no," said Maxime Saada, CEO of the Canal+ Group, to the professional web media Le Film français, on 11/05/2018.

The LFP launched the tender for the domestic audiovisual rights to the Ligue 1 Conforama for the 2020-2024 period, following the unanimous vote to do so from its board of directors on 25/04/2018. The tender includes seven lots (see below and document to download) and auctions will be held sequentially, lot by lot, every fifteen minutes, on 29/05/2018, after "a delivery of qualitative offers", by 28/05/2018.

"We have Ligue 1 (domestic rights) until 2020 for €550m - an amount close to what they are worth for us. If another group took these rights, Canal+ (...) would have two and a half years to prepare for a different model, one more oriented toward cinema and TV series.
