DAZN: Perform to launch its OTT platform in the US, with 32 boxing matches per year for $1bn

Perform, a UK-based group specialised in the production and distribution of sports content on digital platforms, has acquired the broadcast rights, in the United States, for 32 boxing matches per year, on 10/05/2018. The eight-year broadcasting contract (of which six are optional according to US media), is "boxing's first $1bn (€837m on 14/05/2018) deal", according the British promoter Matchroom Boxing. The deal would only reach $1bn if borne out over the full 8 years of the agreement.

Perform Group will launch DAZN, its OTT sports platform, in the United States (launch date not yet announced), after launching in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (on 10/08/2016 for these three countries), Japan (23/08/2016), and Canada (20/07/2017).

Perform will create, with Matchroom Sport, a joint venture, Matchroom Boxing USA, and will organise 16 fights per year in the United States. In addition to these 16 fights, DAZN will broadcast, in the United States, another 16 fights organised by Matchroom Boxing in the UK.
