UK: ITV acquire rights to TV highlights of European Cups from 2015-2018

The British free-to-air group, ITV, have acquired the TV broadcasting rights in the UK for the highlights of all matches of the Champions League and Europa League for the period 2015-2018, on the 22/11/2013.

The rights only cover television and are shared with pay channel BT Sport. BT Sport also acquired, in co-exclusivity with the print and digital media group News UK, broadcasting rights for highlights on the Internet and mobile devices.

"We are happy to have secured these highlights packages and to be able to bring them to a significant free-to-air viewership," said Niall Sloane, ITV director of sport, on the 22/11/2013. On Wednesday evenings, ITV broadcast the highlights of Tuesday and Wednesday's Champions League games, and on Thursday evenings the Europa League.

ITV, who hold the rights to broadcast the Champions League and Europa League for the period 2012-2015, saw BT Sport acquire full and exclusive rights to broadcast live, on TV, Internet, and mobile devices, both of these tournaments for the period 2015-2018, on the 09/11/2013.
