2018 World Cup: TF1 will broadcast 28 matches in 4K and via its virtual reality application

The private, free-TV channel TF1, will broadcast "the 28 best matches" including all matches of the French national team, five Round of 16 games, three quarter-finals, both semi-finals, the third-place match and the final of the 2018 World Cup from 14/06 to 15/07/2018, according to the French audiovisual group during a promotional press conference presentation of the group for the 2018 World Cup in Russia at the TF1 headquarters in Paris (FRA) on 24/05/2018.

"Two major innovations for this World Cup, the broadcasting of matches in 4K and via virtual reality application," announced François Pellissier, director of sports at TF1, during the press conference.

"Television, which is a highly criticised media but a media that unites, takes all these letters of nobility during this type of events. The matches will be broadcast on TF1 but all channels of the group (including the free-TV channels TMC, TFX, LCI and digital channel MYTF1), apart from TF1 Séries Films, will be involved in our plan," said Gilles Pélisson, CEO of TF1.
