FIFA: hosts of the 2026 World Cup to be appointed at the Congress in Moscow on 13/06/2018

A "vote on the designation of the host association(s) of the final competition of the 2026 FIFA World Cup", will be item 13 on the agenda for the 68^th FIFA Congress, scheduled at the Expocentre in Moscow (RUS), on Wednesday 13/06/2018, the eve of the beginning of the XXI World Cup in the same city.

This is the first time that the congress, which brings together the 211 national federations, will choose the host country or countries of the World Cup. Two candidature files have been submitted for the 2026 World Cup, one by Morocco and the other by the trio of Mexico, Canada and the United States.

"If the vote of the 68^th FIFA Congress is not favorable to any bid, FIFA will open the procedure to all the national federations - including the AFC and UEFA which were excluded from the first phase since they are hosting the 2018 (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar) World Cups, with the exception of those whose applications were rejected at the end of the first phase. This second phase will conclude with a final decision at the 70^th FIFA Congress in May 2020," according to FIFA's bidding process…
