2020-2024 Ligue 1 TV rights: €1.15bn per season, 3 lots for Mediapro, 1 for beIN Sports, no Canal+

The domestic audiovisual rights to the Ligue 1 Conforama for the 2020-2024 cycle have been awarded for a total amount of €4.614bn, or an average of €1.153bn per season, announced Didier Quillot, CEO of the French LFP at a press conference in Paris (FRA) 29/05/2018.

Lots 1, 2, and 4 (see contents of the lots below) were awarded to the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro. Lot 4 was awarded to the pay-TV group beIN Sports France. Lot 6 (digital) was awarded to the French telecommunications group Free. Lots 5 and 7 were not awarded because their individual floor prices were not reached and will be marketed "at a later date". The French TV group Canal+, the historical broadcaster of Ligue 1, bid on all seven lots, but were not awarded.

"Mediapro has strongly responded to our tender for bids. Mediapro will create a 100% sports channel in France. As in Spain, Mediapro will enter into distribution agreements with all telecommunications operators and launch its OTT platform," said Didier Quillot on 29/05/2018.
