France: Intermarché succeeds Carrefour as partner of the FFF and les Bleus for 2018-2023

Intermarché, a French supermarket group, has become an official partner of the FFF for five years (from 01/08/2018 to 30/06/2023), on 31/05/2018.

This is a second level agreement in the sponsorship hierarchy of the French Football Federation. The partnership covers the French national teams, the men's and women's Coupe de France, and amateur football.

The brand of the Groupement Les Mousquetaires, No. 3 in the French supermarket market (in market share, 2017 data), succeeds Carrefour, the No. 2 in this market, and partner of the FFF since 1997 and until the end of the 2018 World Cup.

Carrefour has confirmed that it will not extend its agreements with the FFF and the Tour de France beyond their term in 2018, on 29/05/2018. Its commitment with the French Football Federation and les Blues is estimated at nearly €3m per year. Intermarché would pay €5m per year to the FFF, according to the French daily Le Parisien on 29/05/2018, an increase of 66.7% over Carrefour for the 2014-2018 period.
