2018-2021 Serie A TV rights: "The contract with Mediapro is dissolved" (G. Miccichè, Lega Serie A)

"The contract with Mediapro has been dissolved, actually, this night at midnight (in the night of 04 to 05/06/2018). The guarantee paid is not in compliance with the tender, and so is inadmissible, on different aspects both formal and quantitative," said Gaetano Miccichè, president of the Lega Serie A, to the Italian agency ANSA on 05/06/2018, following the general assembly of the Italian League.

Mediapro had proposed a guarantee of €1.6bn on 04/06/2018, according to ANSA, in order to retain the domestic audiovisual rights of Serie A over the 2018-2021 cycle, acquired, as independent intermediary, for an annual amount of €1.05bn on 05/02/2018.

"As for the €64m already paid by Mediapro, I am faithful to the contract, and the contract provided for a deposit (during the tender process) that has been paid, and will remain in the coffers of the Lega," said Gaetano Miccichè on 05/06/2018.
