Bundesliga: Konami and its video game PES become sponsors of FC Schalke 04 Esports from 2018-19

The Japanese video game publisher Konami has become an official partner of FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) and its eSports team, FC Schalke Esports, from 2018-19 on 04/06/2018. The duration of the contract has not been specified, but will cover a period of several years, according to the club. The publisher will pay €0.1m per season to FC Schalke 04, according to German specialised media.

As part of the agreement, Konami gains the exclusive rights for 3D modelling of the Veltins Arena (61,973 capacity), as well as the players and shirts of FC Schalke 04. The publisher may also include some fan songs of the German club in within the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) video game.

Konami also gains visibility on signage and screens at the Veltins Arena, as well as on the club's various communication platforms. Konami joins AOK Nordwest (health insurance), Twitch (streaming service), Quersus (gaming chair manufacturer) and Deutsche Glasfaser (internet access provider) among the sponsors of FC Schalke 04 Esports (on FIFA and League of Legends in 2017-18).
