Premier League TV rights: Amazon (e-commerce) acquires 20 games per season (2019-2022)

The American e-commerce group Amazon, for its VoD platform Amazon Prime Video, and the British telecommunications group BT (BT Sport channels), have acquired the last two lots of the tender for the broadcasting rights of the Premier League, in the United Kingdom, for the 2019-2022 cycle, on 07/06/2018. Amazon is the first GAFA to acquire the domestic rights to broadcast exclusive live matches of a Top 5 European league.

Lot F (10 games on a holiday and 10 matches on a weekday) was awarded to Amazon and Lot G (20 matches on two matchdays on a weekday) to BT. The amount paid by Amazon has not been communicated but BT Sport acquired their lot for £30m per season (€34m).

The Premier League awarded five of the seven lots for a total amount of £4.464bn (€5.091bn), or £1.488bn (€1.697bn) per season, on February 13/02/2018, following the call for tenders for the broadcast, in the United Kingdom, for the 2019-2022 cycle, of 200 matches per season launched on 08/12/2017.
