"The Premier League has today announced that its executive chairman, Richard Scudamore, intends to relinquish his position by the end of 2018," said the English professional football league on 07/06/2018.

"He has led the organisation for almost 20 years overseeing significant growth in attendance, viewing, reach and community involvement both in the UK and globally," added the Premier League.

"I speak for all the clubs when I say we are very sorry that Richard will be leaving, but we could not have asked for anything more from him. The Premier League Board and the Audit Committee have been working on how we will replace Richard and we expect to make an appropriate appointment in good time so there can be a seamless transition. We also hope that Richard enjoys a very healthy and successful future. When he eventually leaves later in the year it will be with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for a job well done," said Bruce Buck, chairman of Chelsea FC (Premier League) and chairman of the Premier League Audit and Remuneration Committe.
