Bundesliga: an average of 44,646 spectators (+7.6%) and a fill rate of 91% in 2017-18

The 18 Bundesliga clubs posted an average of 44,646 spectators per game during the 2017-18 season, an average increase of 3,154 spectators (+7.6%) compared to the 2016-17 season (41,492 spectators). This figure ranks the Bundesliga first in terms of attendance of the European Top 5 leagues ahead of the Premier League (38,273 spectators), as well as the league which experienced the best increase in attendance in absolute terms, ahead of the Serie A TIM (+ 2,550 spectators).

The average capacity of the Bundesliga stadiums was 9.6% higher in 2017-18 (48,829 capacity) than in 2016-17 (44,562 capacity), due to the relegation of SV Darmstadt 98 (Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion am Boellenfalltor: 17,400 capacity) and FC Ingolstadt 04 (Audi Sportpark: 15,200 capacity) to the 2.Bundesliga, combined with the promotion of VfB Stuttgart (Mercedes-Benz Arena: 60,449 capacity) and Hannover 96 (HDI Arena: 49,000 capacity).
