FIFA: 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, after the decision made at the 68^th FIFA Congress, held at the Moscow Expocentre (RUS) on 13/06/2018.

Gathered on the eve of the opening match of the 21^st World Cup (Russia - Saudi Arabia, Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Thursday 14/06/2018, kick-off at 17:00 CET), the FIFA Congress awarded, during the first round of voting, 134 votes (67%) for the bid that was jointly presented by the three Federations of the CONCACAF zone, the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Morocco, a candidate for the fifth time after failing to host the 1994 (organised in the United States), 1998 (France), 2006 (Germany) and 2010 (South Africa) editions, gained 65 votes (33%). The third option, "neither of the two bids", received 1 vote.

This is the first time the FIFA Congress has named the organisers of a World Cup. Previously, it was the Executive Committee (the body replaced by the FIFA Council since the adoption of the new statutes in 2016) who made the decision: the last example was on 02/12/2010 with the double awarding of the FIFA…
