Serie A TIM: Sky Italia and Perform (DAZN) acquire TV rights for €973m per season (2018-2021 cycle)

The Lega Serie A has awarded the three lots selected for the allocation of the domestic audiovisual rights of the Serie A, for the 2018-2021 cycle, to the Italian pay-TV group Sky Italia (lots 5 and 6) and Perform (lot 7), a British group specialised in the production and distribution of sports content on digital platforms, on 13/06/2018.

These three lots, which could not be acquired by a single operator, were awarded for a total amount of €973.3m per season. Sky Italia will pay €780m per season to broadcast 266 matches (seven per matchday) including 16 of the top 20 matches, and Perform, €193.3m per season for the broadcast of 114 (three per matchday) and 4 of the top 20 matches via its OTT platform DAZN, according to Italian press. The total floor price of €1.1bn per season for the three lots was not reached.

An added variable is applied to the fixed sum paid by the broadcasters based on the number of subscribers who could bring the Italian professional league up to €150m per year.
