Russia - Saudi Arabia (5-0, Group A), the opening match of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow (80,000 capacity), drew a total of at least 23.89 million viewers on average in the European Top 5 countries (Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom and Italy), on Thursday 14/06/2018 (kick-off at 17:00 CET).

• In France, the free and private TV channel TF1 drew an average audience of 3.98 million viewers during the match for an audience share of 36.3%.

• In Italy, the free-TV channel Canale 5 (Mediaset group) drew an average audience of 3.441 million viewers during the match. Audience share: 29.8%.

• In Spain, 2.843 million viewers watched the game on the free-TV channel Telecinco (Mediaset España group). Audience share: 27.1%.

• In Germany, the match drew an average of 9.48 million viewers on the public-TV channel ARD. Audience share: 51%.

• In the United Kingdom, the free and private TV channel ITV 1 drew an average of 4.149 million viewers during the game. Audience share: 39%.
