Sky: British government does not oppose takeover bids by 21^st Century Fox and Comcast

The British Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports declared, on 19/06/2018, that the bid for the British broadcasting group Sky, by the US media conglomerate 21^st Century Fox, "responds to concerns raised by the UK Competition Authority (CMA) with regard to media pluralism". In accordance with UK law, there will be a public comment period on these commitments which will end on 04/07/2018, following which the Ministry will have to take a final decision.

21^st Century Fox is competing with Comcast, a media conglomerate and US cable operator, for the acquisition of Sky. The UK Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport has decided definitively not to intervene for "reasons of public interest" with regard to Comcast's offer for Sky, on 05/06/2018.

Comcast had launched a £22.1bn (€25.36bn) takeover bid for the British audiovisual group Sky, on 25/04/2018.
