Premier League: BT to distribute Amazon Prime Video in the UK

"BT today announced it has become the first major UK pay-TV provider to offer Amazon Prime Video (VOD platform of the American e-commerce group) access via a set top box - giving (UK) customers the ability to access Prime Video's TV & movie content at the push of the button," said the British telecommunications group on 21/06/2018.

Amazon acquired, for Amazon Prime, the exclusive broadcast rights, in the United Kingdom, of 20 Premier League matches per season, for the 2019-2022 cycle, on 07/06/2018. BT, for its BT Sport channels, acquired the same rights for 32 matches, on 13/02/2018, and 20 additional matches, on 07/06/2018. The British pay-TV group Sky acquired the same rights for 128 matches on 13/02/2018.

BT will be able to offer its customers the 200 Premier League games broadcast each season in the UK between 2019-2022, as BT and Sky signed a multi-year agreement, in order to reciprocally market, in "early 2019", some of their pay-TV offerings (including their sports channels) to their respective customers on 15/12/2017.
