MLS: DC United launch "Fan Allocation Money" a virtual currency for season ticket holders

DC United (MLS) has launched "Fan Allocation Money (FAM), a virtual currency designed to give season ticket members more value and flexibility with their season tickets," said the Washington, D.C. (United States) club on 16/05/2018. "DC United is the first MLS club to set up this system," added the MLS club.

"FAM is a new virtual currency program that gives fans an unprecedented level of control over their season tickets (for the Audi Field, 20,000 capacity, opening on 14/07/2018) and a guaranteed way to preserve value for unused tickets throughout the 2018 season," said DC United.

According to the club, "if season ticket members are unable to attend a match, they can trade back their tickets to the club through the D.C. United app (see below), and will receive FAM for the unused tickets in return. The acquired FAM can then be used in a variety of ways, such as:
• Purchasing or buying down the cost of ticket upgrades, including all-inclusive club-level seats, for a future match (based on availability)
