Wimbledon 2018: "Watson" an AI programme by IBM will auto-generate video clips during the tournament

Watson, an artificial intelligence computer programme designed by IBM, will automatically generate excerpts in the form of video clips, at the 2018 Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament (01-15/07/2018), according the American company that specialises in software, hardware and IT services, on 26/06/2018.

"The AI system created by IBM Research scientists and IBM iX consultants auto-curates highlights based on analysis of crowd noise, players' movements and match data to help simplify the highlight video production process and focus on key moments in the match. This allows the Wimbledon editorial team to scale and accelerate the video production process for highlight packages and expand the number of potential matches that are turned into timely highlight videos for fans to watch and share," said IBM. The video clips will be broadcast on the Wimbledon website, application and social networks.

IBM has been the official technology provider (real time match statistics provided to commentators and mobile and digital solutions) of the British tennis tournament since 1990.
