The Brazilian footballer Neymar is the 2018 World Cup player with the most mentions on Twitter, ahead of Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), according to the social network after the group stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, on 29/06/2018.

Regarding the 48 of the 64 games that have been played, the one that received the most comments on Twitter was Brazil - Costa Rica (2-0, Group E, Saint Petersburg, 22/06/2018), ahead of Korea South - Germany (2-0, Group F, Kazan, 27/06/2018).

The action most commented on was Brazil's opening goal versus Costa Rica scored by Philippe Coutinho, with 210,549 tweets per minute. The elimination of Germany, the defending champions, by South Korea was the subject of 209,517 tweets per minute.

Brazil and Japan are the two countries that have tweeted the most since the beginning of the World Cup in Russia. The United States are third despite the US team not qualifying for this edition of the competition. France ranks seventh, ahead of the United Kingdom (4th), Argentina (5th) and Mexico (6th).
