2018 World Cup: 14 decisions changed during the group stage thanks to Video Assistant Referee

"14 decisions were changed during the 48 matches of the group stage after using Video Assistant Referee and three were confirmed, a penalty that was blown and two that were not given with reason", said FIFA on 29/06/2018.

"In the end, of the 335 incidents checked, 95% of the referee decisions were correct, but the 14 changes made after VAR increased the percentage of good decisions to 99.3%," added the international federation.

"During a competition, it's not possible that everything goes 100% perfectly. Some things have to be fine-tuned based on what is occurring in the first matches. 95% of the decisions taken by the referees without the VAR were correct, and this percentage increased to 99.3 per cent thanks to the intervention of the VAR.
