Tennis: Uniqlo succeeds Nike as the equipment supplier (excluding shoes) of Roger Federer (SUI)

Roger Federer has become an ambassador of Uniqlo, according to the Japanese equipment manufacturer via its Instagram account on 02/07/2018. The Swiss tennis player, dressed in his new outfit, opened the 2018 edition of the Wimbledon grand slam tennis tournament, of which he is the defending champion and record holder of the most victories (8 titles), versus Serbian Dusan Lajovic (6 -1, 6-3, 6-4) the same day.

Federer's contract with Nike expired in March 2018. The value of the new contract would be $30m per year (€25.9m) until 2028, according to specialised media on 11/06/2018. The Swiss player has been an ambassador of the American equipment manufacturer Nike since the beginning of his career in 1998. Roger Federer had extended with Nike in 2008 for an estimated $10m per year.

With Nike, Roger Federer created the brand and the "RF" logo, which belongs to the American equipment manufacturer. The Swiss entered the Wimbledon center court on 02/07/2018 with Uniqlo clothing, but still with Nike shoes because Uniqlo does not manufacture sports shoes.
