LaLiga Santander: Baskonia-Alavès group (ESP) acquires 85% of Croatian football club NK Istra 1961

Baskonia-Alavés, a sports club based in the Spanish Basque Country, has acquired 85% of the football club NK Istra 1961 (Prva HNL, CRO) on 28/06/2018. Baskonia-Alavés manages both the basketball team of Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz, quarter-finalists of the 2017-18 Turkish Airlines Euroleague (Turkish eliminated by Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul), and the football club Deportivo Alavés, which finished 14^th in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season with 47 points.

"Baskonia-Alaves Group takes a step forward in its internationalization project with the acquisition of 85% of the shares of NK Istra 1961. The City Hall of Pula joins the adventure as the only partner. Therefore, the Vitorian group becomes the owner and takes control of the Croatian club in an ambitious operation in which it will implement its integral management model throughout all the areas of this historic club," said Baskonia-Alavés, which also manages FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (Domino's League 2, see below) in France.
