Premier League: Facebook acquires 2019-2022 broadcast rights in Southeast Asia (The Times)

Facebook has acquired the rights to broadcast, exclusively, the Premier League in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, for the 2019-2022 period, according to the British newspaper The Times on 06/07/2018.

The transaction is in the range of £200m (€226m), according to the British daily. This is the biggest deal entered into by Facebook in the sports rights market to date. This is also the first time Facebook has acquired Premier League broadcast rights.

Facebook, which will broadcast all 380 Premier League games per season, was competing with the pay-TV groups beIN Sports and Fox Sports Asia, according to The Times.
