UEFA: a fourth substitute to be allowed during extra time in European Cup matches from 2018-19

An additional substitution will be now be allowed during extra time (after a maximum of three substitutions during normal time) in the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, Women's Champions League, as well as during the qualifying phases of the Champions League, Euro 2020, Women's Euro 2021 and in the Regions' Cup, according to UEFA on 05/07/2018.

"For the sake of clarity, if fewer than three substitutions have been made during normal time, a team may still use a total of four substitutions if the match goes into extra time," said UEFA.

This change in the laws of the game, applied at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, is part of "a series of amendments to football's Laws of the Game coming into force immediately in various UEFA competitions.
