Brazil 2014: at least 3 stadiums won't be delivered until 2014, according to organising committee

Sao Paulo, Cuiaba, and Curitiba, these are the three stadiums of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil already assured of not meeting the delivery deadline. FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) had fixed a deadline for the 31/12/2013 for the completion of all stadiums, but after the meeting of the Organising Committee on the 03/12/2013, they now admit that the deadline will not be met.

"Curitiba is the one where we are facing the most problems and won’t be delivered before the end of February 2014. That’s a fact. We will be ready to get the stadium by the end of February 2014," said Jérôme Valcke, FIFA General Secretary.

Of the twelve stadiums to be used during the twentieth World Cup, six were tested during the 2013 Confederations Cup (15 to 30/06/2013). With regard to the other six, "four of the six stadiums yet to be completed for football’s flagship event were currently preparing to stage their first events in January 2014. Cuiabá, Manaus, Natal and Porto Alegre are currently finalising their event schedules," said FIFA on the 03/12/2013.
